As Nigerians in the diaspora keep making us proud, a young Nigerian man identified as Jake Okechukwu Effoduh has attained a major academic achievement after making it to become a Queen Elisabeth Scholar (QES) in addition to his special fellowship in Canada.
QES program was instituted to honour the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the throne.
Okechukwu got his first degree from the University of Abuja before proceeding to the UK for his master’s degree.
He shared the good news in a LinkedIn post. This is in addition to being an Advanced Scholars Fellow with the centre for law, technology, and society at the University of Ottawa, Canada.
According to the QES program website: “This program represents a unique opportunity to mobilize a dynamic community of young global leaders across Canada to create lasting impacts both at home and abroad through cross-cultural exchanges encompassing international education, discovery and inquiry, and professional experiences.”
Okechukwu is currently a PhD student at the Osgoode Hall Law School in Canada. He got two master’s degrees in law from the University of Oxford, UK, and York University, Canada.
While at York, Okechukwu served in the capacity of an assistant lecturer in the faculty of liberal arts and professional studies.
