Governor Mai Mala Buni the Chairman APC Caretaker/Extraordinary National Convention Planning Committee has turned 50 plus 3 today 19 November 2020.
If Buni, were to be a typical Nigerian politician, he will shut down the state and the entire country to celebrate his 53 Birthday in styles.
For Buni, the celebration will, essentially, be a reflection on life as it unfolds the good the bad and the ugly.
To many observers, having a 53 Birthday anniversary at the helm of affairs of the governing party the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Executive Governor of Yobe State is a fitting coincidence that calls for the clinking of glasses but the gentleman is not given to celebrating Birthdays.
It is also an appreciation of the overwhelming support and prayers the good people of Yobe have for him to continue the good work for a lasting legacy of development, security, peace and prosperity in all sectors, such that Yobe State would be totally transformed to a modern state.
Buni who is now the Acting Chairman of the APC is not only reassuring but the majority of Yobeans and Nigerians see him as a sun shining on a cloudless morning in the Sahel.
There has never been an iota of doubt as to his capability to transform Yobe, his emergence as National Chairman of the APC has exposed him to the rudiments of leadership and developmental trajectory with new ideas in progressive governance.
The unscrupulous display of loyalty, commitment, dedication and service earned him the elevation in a political career. But significant triumphs and a successful life sometimes tend to create an illusion of an easy ride.
Buni’s rise to political fame has not been without challenges. Starting from his humble beginning as Councillor in the grassroots that prepared him for leadership.
Bookmakers and celebrities are, indeed, disappointed that Buni is not rolling drums to celebrate the convergence of his rise to political power, achievements as Governor and National Chairman of the APC and his 53 Birthday especially in a volatile country where life expectancy is pegged at 50.
The governorship and the national assignment are intertwined and are two sides of life predicated on putting people first as constant variable as well as a life of selfless service rendered great and meaningful rewards of altruistic commitments.
Buni exemplifies this paradigm of good rewards for good deeds; of sowing and reaping. It is law embedded in the theological canons and philosophical belief of major religions.
Buni, is reaping a deserved reputation as a man of unflinching humanistic convictions, team player and consensus builder, yet does not compromise his stubborn commitment to democratic principles.
The celebration of a Birthday in the shadow of a rising and intimidating political profile bears out this axiom.
Buni has courageously sown well and he is reaping well.
In the very near future, Nigerians will know his great leadership qualities in rebuilding the APC to remain a credible and vibrant party institution committed to bequeathing the values of human freedom, peace and development to Nigerians.
We wish him many more years of service to humanity.
