Hausa people say ranan wanka ba’a boye cibi meaning when a woman is in the labour room, there is no way she will hide her nakedness. This is the exact case of popular Kannywood actress, Maryam Yahaya, who is seriously sick but following the advice of some online writers to cover her sickness.

On Monday, Kano State director for Films and Censorship Board, Ismail Abba Afakallah and some stakeholders of Kannywood visited Maryam Yahaya and Afakallah clearly explained in a letter that though Maryam Yahaya is sick, Kannywood should not be blamed because her sickness is from God.
After the visit, Neptune Prime’s Kano correspondent, Saleh Inuwa reported that Afakallah briefed some top government officials including the state governor and commissioner for health. It was resolved that another delegation should visit Maryam Yahaya and verify the true position of her health. On Tuesday, special adviser to Governor Ganduje on religious affairs Alhaji Ali Baba Agama Lafia was at the Maryam Yahaya’s house to see things for himself.
According to Ali Baba, he was shocked when he saw Maryam who three months ago was full of life, looking cute and beautiful, but today, Maryam is a shadow of herself. She is looking lean and emaciated, in fact, the parents are not coming forward to say exactly what is wrong with their daughter, her sickness is not spiritual, actually, she needs a proper diagnosis by a competent doctor.
