How police burst syndicate of notorious kidnappers, recovers phones, SIMs in Adamawa

14 suspected kidnappers have been arrested by the Adamawa State Police Command in Yola. According to the police, the gang have been terrorising residents of the state for a long period of time.

Confirming the arrest, spokesperson of the Adamawa state police command, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, said security operatives have been tailing the suspects for a while and were able to arrest them following credible information they gathered from investigations and from residents, he added that the suspects have already confessed to the crimes labelled against them and the command will make sure they are prosecuted accordingly.

Nguroje said “The Operatives of Adamawa state Police Command attached to SIB have recorded another breakthrough by apprehending a syndicate of fourteen notorious kidnappers terrorising innocent citizens. The suspects were all arrested at their various hideouts following credible information from a reliable source,”

Nguroje revealed the names, age and residential areas of the kidnappers, he said the police were able to recover 18 handsets with 23 sim cards of different networks which they use to perpetuate their criminal activities.

“The suspects are Sanda Buba,33, resident of Bausman village, Chigari in Fufore LGA, Aliyu Abubakar, 34, resident of Yolde Pate, Yola south LGA, Ashiru Sarkin Yamma, 25, resident of no fixed address, Tukur Hammadu, 35, of Yolde Pate, Yola south, Abdul Isa, 35, from samunaka in Yola South LGA, and Idris Musa, 27, of Malabu, Fufore LGA.

Others are Samaila Garba, 25, a resident of Bunga, Malabu district, Fufore LGA, Mumini Idirisu, 25, of Bunga, Malabu district, Fufore LGA, Abubakar Yau, 30, of Sabongari, Jada LGA, Adamu Hussein, 25, of Budzu, Kojoli Village,Jada LGA, Martins Haruna, 24, of Budzu, Kojoli Village, Jada LGA, Shehu Abubakar, 30, of Budzu, Kojoli Village, Jada LGA, Bamanga Ali, 30, of Budzu, Kojoli Village, Jada LGA, and Nuvalga Musa, 33, a resident of Budzu, Kojoli Village, Jada LGA.

“The suspects had confessed during an interrogation of kidnapping Alhaji Sale Idi of Farang in Fufore LGA, Ya’u Adamu of Ganye town and Jones Hayatu of Kojoli Village, Jada Local Government Areas respectively and collected a huge amount of money as ransom,” he added.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Adamu Alhaji, commended the officer in charge of SIB and his men for making the state uncomfortable for any form of criminal activity to strive, he further urged members of the public to always report suspicious people and movements around their neighbourhood to the police and other security operatives.
