Gunmen invade Adamawa hospital, kidnap medical doctor

Bandits have abducted a former Medical Director of Adamawa State Specialist Hospital, Yola, Dr Saidu Bala.

According to reports, the abduction of Dr Saidu took place at his private hospital Aisha Hospital, in Ngurore when gunmen stormed the place Monday evening.

Witnesses said three gun-wielding assailants stormed the hospital located at the Ngurore village, on the Yola-Numan highway and shot sporadically to scare neighbours away and then took the man away.

“Yes about three gunmen stormed the hospital shortly after Maghrib prayer and shot into the air to scare people away,” a source said, stressing, ”They went to Dr Saidu Bala’s office and took him away.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed that the abduction of Dr Saidu took place at his private hospital in Ngurore.

“Our men found three used bullet canisters at the scene of the crime and we have immediately deployed men of anti-kidnapping squad to rescue the abducted medical practitioner,” Nguroje said.

Ngurore town lies just outside the Adamawa State capital and on the highway leading to Numan. Recently, the town has been plagued with crimes such as robbery, rape, killing and kidnappings.
