Native doctor Akwa Okuko kailed over money rituals as shrine demolished

A traditional healer known as Akwa Okuko has been sentenced to prison for engaging in unlawful “money rituals,” officials said, and authorities have demolished his shrine following the conviction.

The suspect was prosecuted on charges related to ritualistic practices that reportedly involved the use of human body parts and other prohibited acts in pursuit of wealth. During the trial, the court heard evidence presented by law enforcement linking him to activities in violation of criminal and cultural preservation laws.

After his conviction, the judge sentenced Akwa Okuko to a term of imprisonment (sentence details not yet released by the court), citing the need to deter others from exploiting traditional beliefs for harmful purposes.
