Story from Saleh INUWA, Kano
Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has debunked rumours that a committee has been put in place to broker a peace deal between him and his successor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
The senator who stated this at a function in Hadejia, Jigawa State, said the rumours are not only false but the handiwork of political opponents who want to run down his political credibility.
The former Governor who served between 1999 to 2003 and 2011 to 2015, was quoted telling those who accompanied him to Hadejia for the wedding ceremony that some of his die-hard supporters have openly cried in the media because of the rumour that he is going to reconcile with Governor Ganduje.
He however insisted that it was never going to happen as he has completely written off Ganduje’s government as corrupt, inept, with no focus to move Kano forward.
“When my brother died, the governor visited me, which as a Muslim is in order, I also gave him the proper reception as a sitting governor, but three weeks ago, I intentionally called for a media chat in which I made bold and clear that I am not in any negotiation with Governor Ganduje or any agent of his government, the government they are claiming to have won was stolen from us in 2019, and by the grace of God, we are going to retrieve our mandate in 2023, quote me, I am a different politician, from those who succeeded me and the ones running Kano State today”.
“My philosophy, my desire, my intention for the masses and what I achieved and intends to achieve for Kano people will not even allow me to operate with these people who are not only corrupt but running a capitalist government that has no place for the poor, all they do is let rich be richer, let poor be poorer, lets children of the poor continue to stay out of school, no Hisbah marriage to assist our women to get married, it is countless, people should be rest assured that Kwankwaso is not negotiating with his predecessor”.
