Abductions: Yobe CP orders massive deployment of police personnel to schools

Story by Okafor Vivian

Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, has directed the deployment of police personnel to schools, key public infrastructure, and communities across the state in response to growing security concerns.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday in Damaturu by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim. He said the directive was given during a strategic security meeting with sectional heads, held in line with Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun’s reform agenda to better equip the force against emerging threats.

Abdulkarim noted that the decision followed the state government’s recent closure of all boarding schools as a precaution against insurgent activities.

He added that the Commissioner ordered immediate implementation of enhanced security strategies around schools and public facilities while tasking Divisional Police Officers and tactical commanders to create strong action plans in collaboration with community leaders, vigilante groups, and neighbourhood watch teams.

The CP also mandated increased visibility policing, intensified patrols, night detachments, and rapid-response tactics to counter possible kidnappings, insurgency, or other criminal activities.

Abdulkarim emphasized that improved inter-agency cooperation, intelligence-sharing, and community-driven security structures remain vital to achieving lasting stability. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, urging residents to remain vigilant and provide timely information to security agencies.
