Aggrieved uncle hacks niece’s suitor to coma

Story from Haruna YUSUF and Sa’adatu MAINA

In a shocking incident on June 8, 2023, a 72-year-old palace guard named Manu Dogari was brutally attacked and left in a coma by the uncle of the woman he was courting.

The unfortunate event took place in Ngelzama town, Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State.

Manu had visited the lady, Adama, whom he intended to marry. As they engaged in conversation, Adama’s uncle, Malam Adamu Sai Baba, aged 63, unexpectedly passed by and noticed the septuagenarian with his niece.

Consumed by rage, he returned home, grabbed a hoe, and viciously struck Manu on the head, causing him to fall into a coma, as stated by an eyewitness.

According to the witness, the dispute originated when Dogari expressed his desire to marry Adama, who happened to be a widow.

However, her uncle strongly objected to the idea. Despite the uncle’s disapproval, Dogari remained resolute.

Tragically, during one of his visits to see Adama, her uncle, Adamu, armed himself with a hoe and a knife, and launched a brutal assault on Manu, leaving him unconscious. The victim was swiftly rushed to the Specialist Hospital in Damaturu for immediate medical attention, as confirmed by a reliable source.

Dungus Abdulkarim, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Yobe State Command, has verified the incident, stating, “The incident occurred in Anguwan Sarki, Sabon Garin Ngelzarma. The suspect has been apprehended, and an investigation is currently underway.”
