APC dominates FCT polls as PDP secures one council, ADC falls short
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged as the dominant party in the just-concluded Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections, winning the majority of chairmanship seats across the six councils.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) managed to secure one area council, preventing a total sweep by the APC, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) failed to clinch any chairmanship seat despite strong campaigns in some districts.
Results declared by electoral officials showed that the APC maintained strong grassroots support in key councils, translating campaign promises into electoral victories. Party supporters celebrated across parts of the FCT as the results were announced at various collation centres.

Political observers described the outcome as a reaffirmation of APC’s growing influence in local governance within the capital territory. They noted that while the PDP retained a foothold with one council victory, the ADC’s inability to convert competitive showings into wins highlights the challenges smaller parties face in consolidating voter support.
The elections, conducted with the deployment of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), were generally reported to be peaceful, although voter turnout varied across councils.
With the results now declared, attention shifts to governance, as residents of the FCT expect the newly elected chairmen to deliver on promises related to infrastructure, sanitation, primary healthcare, youth empowerment, and community development.
