Bandits abduct 6 law students travelling to Adamawa, demand ₦120m ransom
Six students of the Nigerian Law School have been abducted by suspected bandits in Benue State while en route from Onitsha, Anambra State, to resume academic activities at the institution’s Yola campus in Adamawa State.
The incident reportedly occurred on the evening of Saturday, July 26, along the Wukari-Benue border highway, an area frequently targeted by kidnappers and armed criminals.
The students had recently completed their mandatory court externship and were travelling to the Yola campus, which is scheduled to reopen on Monday, July 28.
Those abducted have been identified as Rev. Ernest Okafor, Ogbuka Fabian, Nwamma Philip, Okechukwu Obadiegwu, Obalem Emmanuel, and Obiorah David.

Speaking on the incident, the spokesperson for the Adamawa State Police Command, SP Yahaya Suleiman, confirmed the abduction but clarified that it occurred outside the jurisdiction of Adamawa State.
“The abduction did not happen within Adamawa borders.
We’ve traced the location to an area near Benue,” Suleiman said. He assured that security agencies across state lines were working together to ensure the safe return of the students, emphasizing that the safety of travellers to and from Adamawa remains a priority.
A recent development in the case revealed that the kidnappers are demanding a ransom of ₦20 million for each of the six students.
