Bandits kill two, abduct over a dozen women, children in Katsina

Gunmen suspected to be bandits stormed Mahuta town of Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State on Tuesday morning, killing two people and kidnapping over a dozen of women and children.

A source close to the district head of Mahuta told News Point Nigeria that, the bandits attacked the village in the early hours of Tuesday on their trademark motorcycle barge.

According to him, the bandits carried out a house-to-house raid in the town, shooting male occupants who resisted having their wives taken away, and then ambushed their way out of the town while carrying over a dozen of women and children.

The sources added that, the attack on the town by the bandits just a few days prior resulted in the abduction of several women including a nine months pregnant wife of a resident.

“A few days ago, they attacked the town and abducted women including a pregnant woman and after a few days in captivity, they sent a message that, the pregnant woman had safely delivered a baby boy”, the source lamented.

News Point Nigeria learnt that, Dadume town had reported an increased number of attacks after the Special Police Unit deployed to the town from Sokoto were withdrawn two weeks ago for an undisclosed reason.

Katsina Police spokesman, SP Gambo Isah, did not pick calls or respond to text message seeking for confirmation on the incident as at the time of filing this report.
