Bauchi court sends 2 men to 35 years imprisonment for harvesting girl’s private part

The Bauchi State High Court has handed down a 35-year prison sentence to 20-year-old Adamu Abdulrauf and 21-year-old Abdulkadir Wada for mutilating a six-year-old girl in Jama’are Local Government Area of the state.

Three years ago, it was reported that the two perpetrators lured the young girl into an uncompleted building, severing her private part and leaving her in a pool of blood.

The Bauchi State Police Command apprehended the offenders in January 2021, and they were subsequently charged with causing grievous harm and attempting to commit culpable homicide against the girl.

During proceedings, the prosecuting lawyer, Sabiu Gumba, presented four witnesses, including the victim’s father, and tendered evidence including the knives used in the assault, a bottle containing the severed private part, and a powdered substance.

The court learned that the brutal attack took place in December 2020, where the young girl, Hauwa, was left unconscious after the perpetrators mutilated her for ritualistic purposes using knives.

In delivering the judgment, Chief Judge of Bauchi, Justice Rabi Talatu Umar, convicted and sentenced Abdulra’uf and Wada after they pleaded guilty to the crime.
