Boko Haram terrorists attack Chibok community in Borno, kill 12 villagers

Suspected Boko Haram terrorists, disguised in military uniforms, unleashed a deadly assault in Gatamarwa and Tsiha communities in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State, resulting in the deaths of 12 individuals and the abduction of one.

Confirming the tragic event, ASP Nahum Daso Kenneth, Police Public Relations Officer for the Borno State Command, revealed, “The gunmen shot sporadically at the people in the two communities. So far, 12 corpses were recovered and two were injured.”

The law enforcement representative expressed that a discreet investigation has been ordered by the police commissioner and other security heads to bring the perpetrators to justice.

According to sources, the terrorists attacked Gatamarwa around 5 pm amidst New Year celebrations, as they unleashed terror on unsuspecting mourners returning from the area.

The attackers, heavily armed with AK-47 rifles and arriving on motorcycles and in Hilux vans, opened fire on the crowd and subsequently targeted Tsiha community near Shikarkir.

In the second assault, three people were killed, and a young lady was abducted. Additionally, the insurgents looted foodstuffs and set houses ablaze.

This tragic incident occurs just two weeks after the insurgents executed a similar attack in Chibok, where they claimed the lives of two individuals and plundered homes before setting them ablaze.
