Buhari’s alleged neglect of Niger State linked to Babangida – Jonathan Vatsa

Jonathan Vatsa, former Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism in Niger State, has criticized ex-president Muhammadu Buhari for allegedly neglecting Niger state during his administration, allegedly due to his relationship with former military president General Ibrahim Babangida.

During an interactive session with journalists in Minna, Niger State, Vatsa expressed his disappointment that despite the tremendous support given to Buhari by Niger state in both the 2015 and 2019 elections, the state was seemingly overlooked.

Vatsa emphasized that despite Niger state being one of the highest contributors to Buhari’s electoral victories, the state received very little in return in terms of development and attention. He highlighted that over 15 federal projects awarded to the state by Buhari were abandoned, resulting in a dire impact on the state’s progress.

Vatsa speculated that this alleged neglect was rooted in Buhari’s personal animosity towards one individual, which adversely affected an entire state. He called on the current administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rectify the neglect and address the concerns that arose during Buhari’s time in office.
