Chelsea part ways with coach Enzo Maresca
Chelsea Football Club have confirmed that head coach Enzo Maresca has left the club by mutual consent, bringing an end to his spell at Stamford Bridge.
In a statement released on Thursday, the club acknowledged Maresca’s contributions, highlighting his successes in winning the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup—trophies Chelsea described as significant chapters in their recent history.
“During his time at the Club, Enzo led the team to success in the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup. Those achievements will remain an important part of the Club’s recent history, and we thank him for his contributions,” the statement read.

Chelsea said the decision was taken in line with the club’s ambitions for the remainder of the season, noting that a change in leadership was deemed necessary to improve results across four ongoing competitions, including the push for Champions League qualification.
“With key objectives still to play for across four competitions, including qualification for Champions League football, Enzo and the club believe a change gives the team the best chance of getting the season back on track,” the club added.
The club wished Maresca well in his future endeavours, thanking him for his service.
The announcement follows weeks of speculation surrounding the Italian coach’s future. Reports had suggested Maresca was increasingly frustrated by internal tensions, particularly over recruitment, squad planning and perceived interference from the club’s hierarchy.

According to earlier reports by PUNCH Online, those disagreements intensified after a disappointing run of league results that saw Chelsea slip away from the top-four race, despite continued progress in cup competitions. Concerns over team selection, player management and the club’s long-term sporting direction were also said to have strained relationships behind the scenes.
While Maresca delivered silverware during his tenure, mounting concerns over Chelsea’s league form and overall performances ultimately led both parties to conclude that a separation was the best way forward.
