Drama as woman seeks divorce 2 weeks after wedding

An Ilorin Area Court in Kwara State is currently handling a surprising case as Wuraola Surajudeen, a newlywed woman, has filed for divorce just two weeks after her wedding to her husband, Surajudeen Iya-Onitasi.

Wuraola cited lack of love and affection as the basis for her decision. In her testimony before the court, she revealed that her marriage to Iya-Onitasi was her second.

“I divorced my former husband due to pressure from my mother,” Wuraola said. She further explained that her ex-husband had become a religious fanatic, which her parents strongly opposed.

After ending her first marriage, she was introduced to Iya-Onitasi. Initially, their relationship seemed promising. However, shortly after the wedding, she claimed to have developed a strong dislike for him.

In response, Iya-Onitasi informed the court that his wife had left their marital home without informing him. He admitted that despite his efforts, she had refused to consummate their marriage.

“I tried on multiple occasions to consummate the union, but she consistently denied me. I eventually decided to let her be,” he explained. Iya-Onitasi demanded that Wuraola refund the dowry.
