The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) yesterday marched on the streets of Jalingo against corruption.

The march which commenced at the NYSC state Secretariat traversed through Machalin roundabout and ended at the Taraba State Secretariat where the Head of Service of the state, MS Suzy Nathan addressed the participants.

Nathan told the participants that corruption was the greatest enemy of the country that needed collective efforts to tackle.

She identified greed as the major cause of corruption among people of the country.

Nathan urged the corps members to practically reject corruption in their dealings with people in society.

“Corruption comes in many forms, Dishonesty, cutting of corners, extortion, breach of trust nepotism among others.

“I urge you all to shun these and be upright for us to have a better country,” she said.

Mrs Florence Yaakugh, the Taraba Coordinator of NYSC said the partnership with EFCC would go a long way in tackling corruption.

Represented by Mr Joseph Ukpamichi, the Assistant Director in charge of Corps Inspection, Yaakugh noted that the event was the right step in the right direction.

According to him, the event was planned for 500 corps members but because of the enthusiasm, over 1,000 corps members have participated in the event.

Malam  Abdulkarim  Chuckkol, the Head of Operations, EFCC noted that the involvement of youth corps members was a practical step towards fighting against corruption in the country.
