EPL: ‘It’s a relief’ – Guardiola reacts to Man City’s 2-0 win over Leicester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola expressed relief following his team’s 2-0 win over Leicester City on Sunday, a result that ended their five-game winless streak.

The victory, secured at the King Power Stadium, marked Guardiola’s 500th game in charge of the Premier League champions. Goals from Savinho and Erling Haaland ensured the Cityzens returned to winning ways and kept their title hopes alive.

Speaking to BBC Match of the Day after the match, Guardiola acknowledged the challenges of recent weeks:
“So many days without winning when we are used to it. It’s a relief. The performance was not our best, Leicester were good. I am happy for the result, for the players, and their commitment to be here.”

Savinho: The young talent opened the scoring with a well-executed goal, showcasing his potential.

Erling Haaland: The Norwegian striker added another to his tally, reinforcing his reputation as one of the league’s top scorers.

Despite the loss, Leicester City put up a spirited fight. Their defensive organisation tested City’s resolve, though they ultimately fell short against the visitors’ quality.

This win moves Manchester City closer to the top-four race, reigniting their campaign after a difficult period. They will look to build momentum in their next fixture as the season enters a critical phase.

Leicester, meanwhile, will aim to recover from the loss and improve their standing in the league.
