FG sacks Mrs Uromta as CRFFN CEO amid controversy, names replacement

The Federal Government has sacked the acting Registrar/CEO of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), Mrs Chinyere Uromta, and approved the appointment of Igwe Kingsley Onyekachi as substantive Registrar/CEO for the council.

This development is part of efforts to reposition management and ensure efficiency.

Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, announced the development to newsmen.

The appointment is contained in a letter signed on behalf of the Minister by the Director, Maritime Services, Mr Babatunde J. Sule.

According to the letter, the appointment is in accordance with the relevant provisions of the CRFFN Act 2007 and it is for four years in the first instance.

“Onyekachi, 44, who holds a master’s degree in Transportation and Logistics, hails from Imo State, South-East Nigeria.

“He is an active registered member of the CRFFN. The appointment is with immediate effect.

It would be recalled that the Council has been enmeshed in crisis of confidence and insolvency, leading to its inability to pay salaries since January this year, until the Honourable Minister stepped in to arrange a bailout loan for the payment of salaries.
