FGN approves N3.2 billion for taxi waylights, photometric pattern in three airports

The Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) has approved N3,197,127,22.72 for the procurement and installation of Taxi Waylights and a Photometric Pattern in three airports, along with other equipment throughout the country.

The Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, emphasized that Nigeria Air would commence operations before his departure from office on May 29, 2023.

He shared this update with State House Correspondents following an Extraordinary Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Sirika elaborated that the approved equipment would be installed at airports in Port Harcourt, Lagos, and Abuja.

He stated, “Today, a significant development in the field of civil aviation occurred during the council meeting. As part of our roadmap, the aviation leasing company has been established and approved by the council.”

He continued, “Another memorandum was also discussed, which pertains to the contract for the procurement and installation of taxi waylights and a photometric pattern in Port Harcourt, Lagos, Abuja, and other locations nationwide. This contract has a total value of N3,197,127,22.72 billion, with a completion period of eight months. The contractor responsible for this project is Mssrss KSR3 Global Ledger Limited.”

The minister highlighted that entrepreneurs in civil aviation would have access to these equipment at affordable rates in Nigeria.

He expressed satisfaction with the progress made on the roadmap, stating that it is steadily approaching completion.

Regarding Nigeria Air, the minister further reassured, “Yes, we are on course, and by the grace of God, it will commence operations before President Buhari leaves office. We are making significant progress, and Nigeria Air will be operational before May 29.”
