FMC Keffi faces scrutiny over allegations of job racketeering, corruption

In a shocking development, certain employees within the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Keffi’s Administrative Department are facing accusations of involvement in job racketeering.

This revelation comes on the heels of vocal complaints from job applicants who had sought employment within this federal tertiary healthcare institution in Keffi.

Upon investigation into the alleged misconduct of these administrative staff, it has been discovered that at least five individuals are implicated in this unethical conduct within the civil service.

An anonymous source within the hospital disclosed that some applicants had paid exorbitant sums, ranging from hundreds of thousands to as much as one million naira, under the false pretense of securing employment letters.

Shockingly, during the investigation, one of the culprits (whose name is being withheld) was found to possess a staggering sum of over two hundred million Naira.

Further findings have revealed that job racketeering has been an ongoing issue at the Federal Medical Center Keffi for several years, with administrative staff apparently enriching themselves through these unscrupulous means.

Our correspondent has learned that those implicated have been summoned by the Police Area Command in Keffi for questioning in an effort to identify the main orchestrator behind these counterfeit job offers to unsuspecting applicants.

Furthermore, it has been reported that some of the implicated staff are currently undergoing police interrogation in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State.

Another source from Wamba, who also wished to remain anonymous, shared his experience of being enticed to pay one hundred and fifty thousand Naira to secure a job at the medical center.

He explained that he had made the payment through an intermediary who assured him that the employment letter would be ready by November.

Additionally, he disclosed that a female staff member had been given two employment slots but sold one of them to him for the aforementioned amount, with the expectation of receiving the employment letter in November.

The roots of this job racketeering issue date back to 2014 when FMC Keffi received a waiver for employment from the Federal Ministry of Health in Abuja. Unfortunately, some top management staff were unaware of this, having placed undue trust in their subordinates.

In response to these allegations, Dr. Yahaya Baba Adamu, the Chief Executive Officer and Medical Director of FMC Keffi, explained that he couldn’t definitively confirm or deny the matter’s veracity.

He clarified that the police are currently conducting interrogations, and a committee has been established to investigate the claims. Until the outcomes of these investigations are known, he refrained from making any premature judgments.

”So as I speak to you the police are carrying out their interrogation and we have also set up a committee on the for that, except otherwise it is established to be true or not, I can not at this point say any thing.

”This is an administrative thing and is not that we are folding our hands against it , but untill proven to be true or a mere rumour I can not preempt the ongoing investigations”, he said.
