Forest stun Liverpool to end slot’s honeymoon

Liverpool’s unbeaten run under new manager Arne Slot was shattered as Nottingham Forest secured a 1-0 victory at Anfield, marking Forest’s first away league win over Liverpool in 55 years. Callum Hudson-Odoi netted the only goal of the game 18 minutes from full-time, ending Liverpool’s perfect start to the season.
Despite dominating possession, Liverpool struggled to find a breakthrough. Luis Diaz came closest in the first half, hitting the post after a well-timed interception, while Diogo Jota and Alexis Mac Allister were also denied by Forest’s goalkeeper, Matz Sels.
However, it was Nottingham Forest who capitalized on a rare counter-attack. Anthony Elanga, a substitute, sprinted forward and delivered a precise pass to Hudson-Odoi, who cut inside and fired a low shot past Alisson Becker.

Slot’s attempt to reinvigorate his team with a triple substitution, bringing off Diaz, Jota, and Mac Allister, failed to change the course of the match. Fans at Anfield were left stunned, and many began leaving early—a rare sight during Jurgen Klopp’s era.
The defeat leaves Liverpool three points behind Manchester City, who maintained their perfect start with a win against Brentford. Liverpool now turn their attention to the Champions League, with an upcoming clash against AC Milan on Tuesday.
