The Adamawa State Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has flagged off its Operation Zero Tolerance for Ember Months tagged “Drive Safe, Stay Safe” on Wednesday in Yola Motor Park, Adamawa Capital.
The State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr Ocheja Ameh expressed his determination and readiness to ensure that accidents rate characterized by “EMBER MONTHS” are drastically reduced to its basic minimal if not completely eliminated.

He said the Commission can do this by it continues vigorously public enlightenment and campaign adding that, the EMBER months which runs from September through December of the year are usually characterized by high vehicular and human traffic as a result of increased economic and social activities to mark the end of the year.
According to the Sector Commander, “this movement is usually associated with road traffic crashes resulting in death and injuries of the teaming road users”.
“This year’s theme “Drive Safe, Stay Safe” is in line with the corporate strategic goals for 2020, which is targeted at reducing road traffic crash by 15% and fatality by 20% using 2019 as the baseline”, he explained.
In achieving this commitment, he said the Corps is creating massive awareness through the ember months campaign in all nocks and crannies of the country, hence Adamawa State Sector Command is kick-starting her awareness programme by focusing on the critical infractions and COVID-19 protocols.
Also speaking, the Assistant Corps Marshal, Edward A. Zamber representing the Corps Marshal, Dr Boboye Oyeyeme, urges road users to avoid overloading and social distancing violations in vehicles.
Others offences according to him include speed limit violation, tyre violation, wipers, use of phone while driving, light sign violation, seat belts/route violation as well as wearing of face mask by passengers.
While applauding Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his support to the Corps, he assured that the command will extend its awareness to cover all motor parks operating both inter and Intra State routes, mosques and churches.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in his speech appreciated the effort of the Federal Road Safety Corps in the state in minimising accidents rate and promised to corporate with the Command in achieving their goals.
Fintiri used the occasion to call on the citizens to adhere strictly to the laid down rules and protocols aimed at minimising the rate of accidents on our roads.
