Garry Potter suffers first EPL defeat as Chelsea coach

Garry Potter on Saturday afternoon had his first English Premier League (EPL) defeat since he took over as Chelsea’s head coach in September in a 4-1 loss to Brighton and Hove Albion at the Falmer Stadium.

Brighton meant business after they opened the scoreline five minutes into kick off courtesy Leandro Trossard to make it 1-0.

The disoriented Garry Potter’s boys who failed to build on their performance after recording a victory against Red Bull Salzburg in the UEFA Champions League caused two own goals which came from Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Trevoh Chalobah to give Brighton a confident 3-0 lead.

The tally was reduced after Kai Havertz found the back of the net in the 48th minute but that was not enough to motivate the Blues to close the gap as Brighton’s midfielder, Pascal Groß sealed the victory right in front of his former coach to make it 4-1.

Elsewhere, Manchester City managed to secure the needed three points against struggling Leicester City to reclaim the top spot courtesy Kevin De Bruyne in the 49th minute in which the game ended 1-0 in favour of Citizens at the King Power Stadium.
