Gov. Buni hands over 2 bedroom bungalows to police hospital (Pictures)

Healthcare delivery in Yobe State on Tuesday received a major boost as Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, CON, handed over four apartments of two bedroom bungalow to Police Hospital, Damaturu.

Speaking during the brief handing-over ceremony at the Government House, Governor Buni, represented by the Chief of Staff, Alhaji Abdullahi Yusuf Gashua, said the approval for the allocation of four (4) apartment of two (2) bedroom bungalow to the Police Hospital, Damaturu was to ease their accommodation problems as part of the State Government’s contribution to making the staff comfortable as discharge their duties.

“We extend our appreciation on the contribution of the Police Hospital towards complementing the efforts of the state government for the health care delivery.

“This project is an addition to support the tremendous work the Police Hospital is doing in the area of healthcare access to the people in the state,” the Chief of Staff said.

He added, “I am proud that we have constructed over 140 functional Primary Healthcare Centres, out of 178 proposed for every political ward, in addition to upgrading six primary healthcare centres to General Hospitals, and four General Hospitals upgraded to Specialists Hospitals.

“We have also constructed the Nigeria’s largest Maternal and Child Health Complex in Damaturu and provide state-of-the-art equipment for improved health care delivery,” he added.

In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director of Ultra-Modern Police Hospital, Damaturu Professor Muhammed Bashir Tahir, commended Governor Buni for making health care delivery the topmost priority of his administration.

He said this is not the first time the governor is assisting the hospital, adding that since the commencement of operation of the Police Hospital, Governor Buni has taken over the payment of salary and allowances of all the staff to carry out their work.

He assured the state government of the unwavering commitment of the Ultra-Modern Police Hospital, Damaturu in complementing the efforts of the state government in health care delivery.

“We are not going to stop at ensuring that we provide the best medical facilities to the people to compliment the efforts of the state government,” he assured.
