Gov. Buni inaugurates sales of affordable fertiliser to Yobe farmers

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, on Thursday inaugurated the sales of fertiliser at subsidised rate for the 2023 farming season.

Buni, who reduced the price of each bag of the fertiliser to N13,000, said it would assist farmers in the state to boost outputs for the 2023 farming season.

Launching the fertiliser sales at the event centre of the government house Damaturu, the governor called on farmers to take advantage of the slashed rate to increase their agricultural yield in the state.

“On this note, I have directed that for the 2023 farming season, a bag of NPK 20- 10-10 fertiliser to be sold at N13,000 per bag.

He said the state has remained committed to exploring more avenue towards the enhancement of agricultural productivity as the main stimulus for providing employment, self reliance and income generation to the farming population.

Buni revealed that to achieve the state set goals in agriculture and improve productivity, government is providing fertiliser to farmers at this most appropriate time for application on farms just as the raining season is now stabilising.

“The commodity we have procured at ₦25 thousand per bag, however inline with the state agricultural policy, I here by declare a subsidy of 40 percent of the fertiliser to be sold to our farmers at the cost of ₦13 per bag.

“I appealed to the beneficiaries of this agricultural palliative to ensure that they appreciated the state government gesture by making proper use of the fertiliser and avoid selling of it,” said Governor Buni.
