Missile strikes rock Gulf Region as Iran launches retaliatory attacks on U.S. military assets
A major military escalation unfolded across the Gulf region as Iran launched a series of missile and drone attacks targeting U.S. military installations and interests following reported strikes on Iranian assets near Qeshm Island and in the Strait of Hormuz.
Kuwaiti air defenses were activated as Iranian missiles entered the country’s airspace, with reports indicating that missile debris fell on streets after successful interceptions. Warning sirens sounded across several military facilities, including Ali Al-Salem Air Base and Camp Arifjan, both of which host American troops.

Simultaneously, multiple explosions were reported in Erbil, the capital of Iraq’s Kurdistan Region. Iraqi media stated that airstrikes targeted the headquarters of anti-Iranian separatist groups in the Alan Valley area.
Explosions were also reported in Bahrain, while missile and drone attacks targeted locations housing U.S. military personnel in both Bahrain and Kuwait. Regional sources described the attacks as ongoing, with warning sirens continuing to sound throughout the affected areas.

Reports from Iran’s Qeshm Island indicated that several explosions occurred south of the island near Masan village and surrounding waters. Iranian media later reported that a projectile struck the coastline between Suza and Masan.
The escalation followed reports that U.S. forces intercepted and disabled the M/T Lexie vessel en route to Iran’s Kharg Island. Iranian officials linked the subsequent attacks to what they described as American aggression against Iranian sovereignty and interests.
In a statement, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed that its Aerospace Force had carried out precision missile strikes against U.S. military bases in Kuwait, describing the operation as a direct response to attacks on Iranian territory.

The IRGC warned that any further military action against Iran would trigger a stronger and more decisive response, stating that American military facilities and interests across the region remain within reach of Iranian forces.
Meanwhile, Iraqi media reported attacks on military vessels off the coast of the United Arab Emirates, while warning sirens were also reported at U.S. military installations in Saudi Arabia.

Bahrain temporarily closed its airspace to civilian traffic, and flight operations were reportedly suspended across Bahrain, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates as regional authorities assessed the security situation.
In a separate statement, the IRGC announced that missile and drone strikes had targeted the headquarters of the U.S. Fifth Fleet, as well as American military aviation assets stationed in the region. The strikes were described as retaliation for attacks on an Iranian oil tanker and a communications facility near Qeshm Island.
The latest developments mark one of the most significant military confrontations in the Gulf in recent years, raising fears of a broader regional conflict involving Iran, the United States and their allies.
Authorities across the region remain on high alert as military operations and security measures continue.
