From Sa’adatu MAINA, Damaturu

The executive governor of Yobe state, Hon Mai Mala Buni with total submission to the will of Allah (SWT) has expressed shock and sympathy over the sudden death of its two illustrious sons, Malam Ibrahim Damaturu and Honourable Sabo Garbu, Dan Madamin Fika whose death occurred yesterday.

“We received with sorrow the devastating news of the demise of these prominent sons of the state but, that is the will of Allah (SWT) our creator.

The governor who described the sorrowful event as a double tragedy, mourned losing these great personalities at this very time when their personal contributions and wealth of experience are seriously needed to enhance development.

“Malam Ibrahim Damaturu a prominent Islamic scholar sacrificed his comfort researching and imparting knowledge to both young and old in the state.

‘He was a great ambassador of peace who preached peaceful coexistence, tolerance and accommodation.

“He will be missed for his wise counselling and lessons on religious harmony.

“The governor similarly described Hon Sabo Garbu as a man of peace who impacted positively on the lives of his electorate and humanity generally.

“He played peaceful politics and supported the electorate in his constituency with numerous empowerment programmes.

The governor also prayed to Allah to grant their families, relations, friends and associates the fortitude to bear the loss and Almighty Allah (SWT) grant their souls eternal rest in Aljannatur Firdausi.

While Malam Ibrahim Damaturu was buried yesterday with a mammoth crowd in attendance, Honourable Garbu’s funeral prayer, according to a statement signed by Engineer Sagir Adamu Jajere, the Zanna Dujima of Fika, will hold today 10 am at the Emir of Fika’s residence in Potiskum.
