GOV. Yusuf offers hajj, new house, welfare package to father of slain family
Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has announced a comprehensive support package for Haruna Bashir, the father who lost his wife and six children in a tragic killing in Chiranci Dorayi.
During a condolence visit on January 21, 2026, Governor Yusuf assured Bashir of the state government’s full backing, including the provision of a new house to help restore his dignity and welfare support to ease his burden.

The governor also approved sponsorship for both Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages for Bashir and pledged support should he choose to remarry.
On justice, Governor Yusuf directed the Kano State Attorney General to fast-track prosecution of the suspects involved, vowing to sign the death warrant for any convicted individual.
The governor commended security agencies for their swift action in arresting those responsible.

In a touching gesture, Bashir donated his personal home to the state government for conversion into an Islamiyya school to benefit the community.
Governor Yusuf prayed for the eternal rest of the deceased and strength for their family and the people of Kano.
