Governors, politicians lose Abuja lands over unpaid fees
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has revoked the Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) of 568 land allottees in Maitama II, Cadastral Zone A10, Abuja, due to non-payment of charges despite repeated warnings.
Among the affected individuals are prominent political figures, including Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Abbas Tajudeen.

In a statement released by Lere Olayinka, media aide to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, the revocation followed the expiration of a two-week payment deadline in October 2024, which was later extended to January 15, 2025.
Others Affected Include:
Ibrahim Hadejia, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President
Ben Ayade, Former Cross River State Governor
Opeyemi Bamidele, Senate Leader
Abba Moro, Senate Minority Leader
Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Minister of State for Labour
John Eno, Minister of State for Industry and Trade
Abike Dabiri-Erewa, NIDCOM Chairperson
Regina Akume, wife of SGF George Akume
Late Sports Minister Bala Kaoje was also listed among those affected.
The FCTA has maintained that the decision aligns with ongoing efforts to recover government revenue and enforce compliance with land administration policies in Abuja. Minister Wike reiterated his commitment to ensuring that urban development is not hindered by non-compliance.
“The lands will be reclaimed and reallocated in line with the city’s developmental agenda,” the statement noted.
