Gunmen kidnap pastor, Church member

Story by Susan Mbamah

Gunmen have abducted Pastor Friday Adehi of the Christian Evangelical Fellowship of Nigeria (CEFN) and a church member, Gabriel Ezekiel. The kidnapping took place on Sunday, August 24, 2025, in Kogi State.

The two men had just attended a church service and a naming ceremony before they were ambushed on the Ajegwu-Ojodu road in Ofu Local Government Area.

Eyewitnesses say the kidnappers, who had been hiding in wait, stopped them at gunpoint and forced them into the bush between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Local vigilantes and military personnel have launched a search operation to find the abductors.

In an effort to curb these incidents, community members are clearing bushes along the Itobe-Anyigba road, as criminals often use the dense vegetation for cover.

This community project is being supported by donations from residents and philanthropists, including Dr. Simeon Oyigu.

In the meantime, members of the CEFN Church have begun a period of prayer and fasting for the safe return of Pastor Adehi and Brother Ezekiel.
