I’ve no objection to my daughter marrying man she met on social media – Nollywood Actor, Ibu

Story from Saleh INUWA, Kano

Nollywood actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu has said he has no problem with his daughter Jasmine getting married to a man she met on social media platform ‘Tiktok’.

In a statement issued to inform friends and relatives about the upcoming marriage, the veteran actor said though Jasmine is not his biological daughter, he raised her and she call him daddy, while he calls her daughter.

“I am okay that she is going to marry somebody she met through the internet, it has been my prayer for her to happily settle down. Men and women normally have a way of meeting each other and then gradually build a relationship that will lead to marriage, what I don’t like to see is tears, marriage should be a lasting institution to be built over time by man and woman”.

Speaking on his experience in the early days of his career, he said, “My experience in the industry has been nice but there are cases where I encountered bad people that beat me publically because of my roles in films, some will see me and just slap me including calling me all sort of names, but I did not allow such to affect my acting career.

The Veteran comedian and actor advised entertainers to stop campaigning for politicians, since most politicians don’t tell the truth.

“I am okay with giving supports, but in some cases what I don’t want is to be invited by politicians that will equally invite other actors to follow them during their campaigns, because this will affect the image of the artist.

On people calling him an ugly actor, he laughed, and said the name calling is why he does not want his children to resemble him, because he is not only short and fat, he is also ugly, any of his children that resembles him is on his own.
