JAMB to decide admission cut-off marks on June 24

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has scheduled its 2023 policy meeting on admission into tertiary institutions for June 24.

This information was revealed in the board’s weekly bulletin released on Monday by Dr Benjamin Fabian, its spokesperson.

According to the bulletin, the meeting will be held at the National Judicial Institute (NJI) in Abuja and will address various crucial topics, including the acceptable minimum admissible score for admissions in all tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

“The policy meeting, chaired by the Honourable Minister of Education, will have the presence of heads of tertiary institutions and relevant regulatory bodies. It aims to discuss significant issues arising from the recently concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the sale of Direct Entry (DE) application documents, and set the tone for the 2023/2024 admission exercise in tertiary institutions,” the statement reads.

Apart from the Registrar’s presentation on the recently concluded UTME, the policy meeting will address other national education sector matters of importance.

It will also provide policy directions for the country’s tertiary institutions, establish admission guidelines, analyze application statistics and candidate performance, as well as evaluate the 2023 admission exercise.

Additionally, the policy meeting will decide the acceptable minimum admissible score for all admissions in Nigerian tertiary institutions.
