Judges scold SAN for complaining of tiredness after 8 hours in court
There was a mild drama at the Court of Appeal, where the Presidential Election Petitions Court was held, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and counsel for the All Progressives Congress (APC), Charles Uwensuyi-Edosomwan, faced scolding from the tribunal for interrupting the proceedings.
The marathon judgment session, which had been ongoing for eight hours, seemed to have worn out Uwensuyi-Edosomwan. At around 5pm, he requested the court to be brief and either “dismiss or allow” the petitions of the Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, against the victory of President Bola Tinubu of the APC.

However, one of the justices promptly shut down Uwensuyi-Edosomwan, reminding him that he should not interrupt the judgment delivery. The justice firmly stated, “You don’t have to suggest to us how to deliver judgment.” Another justice chimed in, questioning Uwensuyi-Edosomwan’s assumption that the panel was unaware of its responsibilities.
Realising his mistake, Uwensuyi-Edosomwan promptly apologized and resumed his seat as the judgment continued.
