Story from Hamzat Ibrahim ABAGA

A 37-year-old man Umar Ayuba has lost his life after falling into a well in Kawon Maigari, Kano State.

Saminu Abdullahi, the spokesperson for Kano State Fire Service, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the unfortunate incident occurred on Tuesday evening when Mamuda Abdallah dialed the emergency hotline at approximately 5:20 p.m. to report that Ayuba had become trapped inside a well and was in dire need of rescue.

In response to the distress call, a team from the Kano State Fire Service was immediately dispatched to the scene, arriving swiftly at 5:32 p.m.

Abdullahi added that the victim, Ayuba, had been requested to assist in retrieving some women’s wrappers that had accidentally fallen into the well.

However, tragedy struck as Ayuba suffocated due to lack of oxygen.

In an attempt to save Ayuba’s life, he was immediately transported to the Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital where a doctor on duty at the facility declared him dead.
