Kanu Trial: Security operatives arrest IPOB members protesting at Federal High Court

Some members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) were arrested by some security agents while protesting at the Federal High Court, Abuja where the group’s leader, Nnamdi Kanu will be charged today.

The IPOB members were chanting slogans in support of Kanu and demanding the freedom of their leader.

Several of them were clad in the green, yellow and red colours of the IPOB flag while others wore Jewish attires. Some were arrested while others escaped.

Kanu’s trial was scheduled to continue today after he was arrested and extradited to Nigeria in June. He will be arraigned before Justice Binta Nyako.

Meanwhile, Journalists covering the Judiciary beat got a dose of the moment as they were barred from entering the premises by the DSS operatives.

When the DSS were accosted by a team of stranded Journalists who demanded an explanation, one of the officers claimed they were acting based on an instruction that only ten media houses have been accredited for the trial.

Several efforts by the newsmen to register their request to be allowed to cover the trial was frustrated by the security agencies and were still stranded at the time of writing this report.
