Residents of Jere LGA in Borno state have lamented government’s neglect and lack of show of concern in addressing the problem of flooding in the area.
Various calls have been made to Government by the residents mostly from Ngomari, Mairi, London Chiki and Kaleri for Government support.
Some expressed their displeasure on the matter, describing it as “discouraging ”
Abdulrashid Musa,  a resident of Gomari said, people going to Kalari and Gomari have to stay stranded because No Keke Napep will pick them because of flooding in the areas.
” Some times, we have to trek for three days or more whenever it rains for as little as thirty minutes because the floods are affecting vehicular movements. Our situation is very bad,” he said angrily.
“We are so sad and tired to always see these kinds of disaster,” said Ado Mai Shago.
“We have culvert already, let this Government construct roads for us,” said a traditional chief in the area.
“Our children have been missing classes because the only school in the area is occupied by rain,” another resident,  Mama Ruth said.
A medical Doctor Who pleaded for anonymity said the flooding was affecting them seriously, “we have to navigate through pools of water before going to my place of work as all our roads are totally submerged by flooding.”
Another source commented that floods are global disasters, adding that everyone including citizens, Government, and relevant stakeholders had roles to play to mitigate the causes and effects of flooding.
Neptune Prime learned that since the cancellation of construction of Ngomari roads by previous administrations, there had not been any repairs of the roads by Kashim Shettima administration in the area.
Neptune Prime Correspondent reporting from Maiduguri also found that many parts of Borno’s capital city are also faced with flooding challenges.
