The driver of Adamawa United Football Club who was kidnapped last weekend has finally been released.

Kabiru was reportedly kidnapped along Benin-Ore-Lagos road when the team bus was attacked by gunmen on Saturday, 20 February at around 6.30 am, along the Benin-Ore-Lagos highway.

The gunmen were said to have taken money and phones from players and officials of the team before abducting the driver.

After the driver was kidnapped, the kidnappers demanded a ransom of N50 million.

“I spoke with him, he was very coherent, he is on his way back (towards Yola) now,” the permanent secretary said.

Jada, who had been negotiating the terms of release of the driver, did not disclose how much was finally paid as ransom to secure his release.
