Kogi House of Assembly suspends council chair, Abdulkareem Sanni, over alleged criminal activities

The Kogi State House of Assembly has suspended the Chairman of Kogi Local Government Area, Abdulkareem Isah Sanni over alleged criminal activities.

The suspension of Sanni followed after the submission of a report to the Assembly inditing him of criminal acts.

The Speaker, Prince Matthew Kolawole who read the report at plenary, said the suspension will last pending the outcome of investigations by security agencies.

He, however, directed the Vice Chairman of the Local Government, Hasana Jezhi, to step in as acting chairman.

In another development, Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has forwarded a request of over thirty billion nairas supplementary budget to the State House of Assembly for approval.

The Governor in a letter to the House said the request was based on the need to improve the state’s infrastructure and security of lives and property.

The supplementary budget if passed will increase the total revised budget to over one hundred and sixty billion Naira.

The request has been referred to the House Joint Committees on Budget and Finance to act upon.
