Kogi: Soldiers allegedly arrest Igala-mela/Odolu LGA Chairman with ammunition, cash (Video)

Soldiers on election duty in the Igala-mela/Odolu Local Government Area (LGA) of Kogi State early Saturday morning allegedly intercepted and arrested the council chairman, James Onoja and several supporters of the All Progressives Party (APC) for being in possession of ammunition and lots of cash.

The soldiers impounded the cash running into millions of naira as well as a large cache of ammunition.

The money and ammunition which were allegedly meant for use during the election were packed in several ‘Ghana-must-go’ bags.

The viral video shows the suspects sitting on the floor near an army checkpoint.

In the video, both the council chairman and his gang were seen expressing regrets and pleading for forgiveness.

All efforts to speak to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Kogi State SP William Ovye Aya proved abortive as at the time of filing this report.

Aya failed to pick up calls or respond to text messages on this development.
