Leader decorates Gen. Hajizadeh with top order after strike on Israel

On 6 October 2024, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, awarded the “Order of Fat’h” (Conquest) to Brigadier General Amir-Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the Aerospace Division of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

This honour was conferred in recognition of the general’s leadership during significant military operations against Israel, particularly following Iran’s launch of 180 ballistic missiles targeting Israeli military and intelligence bases in the Tel Aviv area on 1 October.

The “Order of Fat’h” is reserved for military leaders who achieve remarkable victories. Iranian media reported that the decoration acknowledged “Operation True Promise,” which refers to both the retaliatory strikes on Israel on 13 April and 1 October.

The recent missile strikes were described as a response to Israel’s actions, including the assassination of key figures from Hamas and Hezbollah, as well as a top IRGC commander.

The medal features a depiction of three palm leaves above the grand mosque of Khorramshahr in southwest Iran, symbolising resistance, alongside the Iranian flag and the word “fat’h.”

In April, Iran executed a major assault involving hundreds of drones and missiles, triggered by an Israeli raid on its consulate in Syria. The latest strikes included targeting two Israeli airbases housing advanced F-35 and F-15 warplanes, as well as the Mossad headquarters, marking a significant escalation in the conflict between Iran and Israel.

This ceremony and the recognition of General Hajizadeh reflect Iran’s ongoing military strategy and commitment to its defence posture in the region amid escalating tensions. The Iranian leadership has vowed to continue its operations against Israel as long as the conflict in Gaza persists, with a focus on retaliating against perceived aggression.
