Malian mother breaks Guinness World Record with birth of nine babies in a single delivery

A young mother has shattered the Guinness World Record by giving birth to nine healthy babies in a single delivery.

Halima Cissé, hailing from Mali, and her husband, Abdelkader Arby, joyfully welcomed the nonuplets into the world on May 4, 2021.

Initially, doctors had anticipated the arrival of seven babies, but it was during Halima’s transfer to the Ain Borja Clinic in Morocco for specialized care that two additional babies were discovered.

Prematurely delivered via caesarean section during the 30th week of pregnancy, the nonuplets emerged safely.

Among the newborns are five girls and four boys, each bestowed with unique names: Adama, Oumou, Hawa, Kadidia, Fatouma, Oumar, Elhadji, Bah, and Mohammed VI.

Following their stay in Morocco, the children and their mother have since returned to Mali, as reported by the BBC.

Their father, Abdelkader Arby, expressed, “They all have different characters. Some are quiet, while others are more vocal and cry frequently. Some demand to be held all the time. These differences are entirely normal.”

During her pregnancy, the Malian government supported Halima Cissé’s medical care and arranged for her to be flown to Morocco.

Now faced with the tremendous task of caring for the nonuplets, Abdelkader Arby remarked, “It’s a lot of work, but Allah, who has blessed us with this miracle, will guide us in raising and nurturing them.” The couple already had a 3-year-old daughter prior to the birth of the nonuplets.

The birth of these nonuplets has captivated the attention of people worldwide, who are astounded by the mother’s ability to carry and deliver nine babies simultaneously.

The Guinness World Record has officially recognized Halima Cissé’s extraordinary achievement as the first documented instance of a woman giving birth to nonuplets.
