Man intoxicates, rapes Adamawa student in her home

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested 23-year-old Safiyanu Abubakar for intoxicating and raping a student in her residence.

The young man, a resident of Angwan Chamber in Toungo Local Government Area of southern Adamawa, confessed to the crime after he was arrested by security operatives.

According to a statement issued by SP Suleiman Nguroje Police Public Relations Officer on Saturday, the suspect drugged the girl with strong alcoholic drink and took advantage of her vulnerability.

“I took advantage of her vulnerability after mixing Captain Jack (a hot drink) and Coca-Cola and made her drink it,” Safiyanu told the police.

Nguroje said the incident happened on 12 September when the man visited the girl as a friend.

He said, “The suspect, on 12/9/2023 was said to have paid a visit to the victim (name withheld) as a friend and good samaritan but unfortunately he intoxicated her drinks.”

The spokesman said the state Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, had ordered for immediate prosecution of the suspect on completion of investigation.
