Instead of prison, Judge sentences bank robber to live with wife for 6 months

Lawrence John Ripple was a man who had reached his breaking point. His marriage was in shambles, and he couldn’t take it anymore.

One day, as he was walking past a bank, he had a crazy idea: he would rob the bank and get himself arrested. It wasn’t that he wanted to be a criminal, but he just couldn’t bear the thought of being with his wife any longer.

So, he walked into the bank and handed a note to the teller, which read: “I have a gun, give me money.” The teller, understandably scared, immediately complied with his demand and handed him $3000. Ripple took the money and sat down on a chair in the bank’s lobby, waiting for the police to arrive.

When the police arrived, they found Ripple sitting calmly, with the money beside him. He surrendered without any resistance and was taken into custody.

During his trial, the judge asked him why he had committed the robbery, and Ripple replied that he had done it because he wanted to go to prison. When asked why, he replied that he would rather be in prison than be with his wife.

The judge who was taken aback by Ripple’s response decided to show him some leniency and sentenced him to six months of house arrest.
