Military issues strong warning to mischief makers ahead of tribunal judgment

In a strong warning issued by the Nigerian Military, they have declared that they will not tolerate any individual or group attempting to incite violence following the verdict of the presidential election petition tribunal.

With the ruling scheduled for Wednesday, September 6, which will decide the fate of President Bola Tinubu’s victory, Brig. Gen. Tukur Gusau, the Director of Defence Information, emphasized that the military will not stand idly by in the face of trouble.

Gusau assured the public that the Guards Brigade, Army Headquarters Garrison, and other security agencies are on high alert to counter any potential threats. He emphasized that there is no cause for concern as they will not allow violent protests arising from the outcome of the presidential election verdict.

When asked about the security arrangements for the tribunal ruling, Gusau responded, “We have been working in collaboration with other security agencies to maintain peace and security throughout the country. In Abuja, we have the Guards Brigade and the Army Headquarters Garrison, along with other agencies, ensuring security in the FCT.”

He further stated, “We will continue to carry out our duty, and if anyone intends to cause chaos, we cannot remain passive. We have to do our job. On the day of the judgment, we will maintain our usual vigilance in coordination with other security agencies. We cannot perform our duties and turn a blind eye to any attempts to cause harm. So, why are we out here on patrol?”
