Nasarawa police arrest man for kidnapping neighbour’s 2-year-old son

The Nasarawa State Command of the Nigerian Police has paraded a man, Abubakar Saidu, for the abduction of his neighbor’s 2-year-old son in Orange Market, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

During a press briefing at the headquarters in Lafia, Police Spokesperson DSP Nansel Nimyel provided details of the incident. According to him, the father, Adamu Abdullahi, reported that his 2-year-old son had been missing for two weeks, and all attempts to locate him had been unsuccessful.

However, Abdullahi received a ransom call on the same day from an unknown individual demanding N2.5 million.

In response, a team of detectives was assigned to pursue the kidnappers. As a result, three suspects, Abubakar Saidu (38), Yusuf Yusuf (23), and Haruna Garba (50), all residents of Orange Market in Karu, were apprehended in connection with the crime.

During interrogation, Abubakar Saidu, who lived next door to the complainant, confessed to conspiring with the aforementioned suspects to kidnap the 2-year-old child.

Saidu admitted that he handed the child over to his wife, Salamatu Abubakar, who subsequently took the child to Katsina State.

The diligent efforts of the police led to the arrest of Salamatu Abubakar, and as a result, the child has been safely rescued and reunited with his parents.

The Police Spokesperson reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety of the community and thanked the public for their cooperation in providing crucial information that aided in the successful resolution of the case.
