Ndidi vows to pay Super Eagles’ bonuses if FG fails
Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi has assured that he will personally pay the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations match bonuses owed to players and officials if the federal government does not release the funds by Saturday.
Ndidi, speaking in an X post via BBC journalist Oluwashina Okeleji, said he has been encouraging the team to train and play since their second game against Tunisia, despite the delay in bonus payments.
Deputy Finance Minister Doris Uzoka-Anite confirmed that the government has streamlined processes to ensure the team receives their bonuses either immediately or by Friday.

Ndidi stated, “I’ve been pushing the team to train and play the game vs Algeria. I’ve now made a commitment to the staff and players that I’ll personally pay the bonuses if the authority fails to before Saturday.”
The Super Eagles arrived in Marrakech on Thursday evening and are set to train ahead of their quarterfinal match against Algeria, as the team awaits the outstanding payments.

The captain emphasised that the unpaid bonuses should not affect team preparations, and reiterated his commitment to covering the funds if necessary to ensure the team remains focused.
