NECO Exam: Jigawa Gov’t releases N317 million to sponsor about 800,000 pupils

The Jigawa State Government has released the sum of N317 million for the NECO examination fees of about 800,000 pupils who sat for SSCE examinations this year, the Director-General State Educational Monitoring Inspectorate Unit, (SIEMU), Alhaji Abdullahi Yunusa has stated.
Speaking to Neptune Prime in his office at the state Secretariat in Dutse, Yunusa said that the payment was to be effected since last week, but there was a delay due to logistic challenges.

He also informed that “everything has been finalized as Governor Badaru gives final approval, hence the release of the money he averred.
“With this development, we do hope our pupils will be able to secure nine credits with English and Mathematics, which will enable them to gain direct entry admission into the country’s varsities.”
On activities of SEIMU, the DG said they were able to train 1,350 teachers on capacity building, school management, lesson planning, and records for improved service delivery.
“We have trained and developed the capacity of our teachers especially on critical areas of teaching and learning for improved teaching of science subjects, whereby the result achieved was excellent in the cause of our monitoring and evaluation of our teachers.
According to him, the training was categorized into three segments which comprised of intensive teaching methodology on teachers, skills, school management administration and services for improved teaching, and a conducive learning environment in our schools.
“Similarly we have succeeded in enforcing commitment, dedication, skills and professional competencies among our 2,200 junior and senior secondary school teachers across the state, all aimed at improving teaching and learning methodology in our schools”, Alhaji Yunusa said.
