Nigerian soldier joins challenge, complains of hardship, unemployment

A Nigerian soldier has lamented the rising hardship in the country, blaming it for the increase in fraud and other illegal activities among the nation’s youth.

In an online video, the military personnel participated in the #30DaysRantChallenge, a social media campaign where Nigerians express their frustrations about the current state of the nation.

The soldier highlighted that despite graduating with top honours, many young Nigerians are left without jobs due to the lack of opportunities and the country’s crumbling economy.

“Don’t blame most youths involved in fraud or illegitimate businesses. It’s because the system is broken—graduates struggle to find work, and survival becomes harder by the day,” he said.

He also criticised the soaring prices of goods, questioning why local prices continue to rise despite Nigeria’s abundant resources.

“I went to the market today, and the price of something I bought yesterday doubled. How is the dollar affecting us? Can’t we produce our own goods?” he asked.

Despite these challenges, the soldier encouraged Nigerian youths to pursue legitimate success. “Don’t let the country’s problems drag you down. You can still succeed through hard work and determination,” he advised, urging young people to resist the temptation of fraud.

The #30DaysRantChallenge, initiated by content creator Ushie Rita Uguamaye, has sparked a wave of Nigerians voicing their concerns about issues like insecurity, economic hardship, and governance, amplifying the call for change and reform in the nation.

Following the challenge, a corps member serving in Lagos has alleged receiving threatening messages over a video where she criticised President Bola Tinubu’s government over inflation and economic hardship.

In the widely circulated video shared on TikTok via @talktoraye, she expressed frustration over the rising cost of living in Nigeria. She openly called Tinubu a “terrible leader” and questioned the government’s efforts to address the economic crisis.
